School Story
Best memories are of spending most of my senior year in the new computer room with the IBM/1620. Courtesy of Ford Motors, if I remember correctly. I still have the original Fortran II computer book we used as the initial text book. Though I seem to remember few of the teachers and classes, the parts of the computer are still clear. Sitting at keyboard with the IBM Electric typewriter. Lots of the computer switches to the left along with the small in capacity, but wonderful to have disk drive (might have been a drum). Card loader was to the right and you needed the pre-loader deck if you wanted to load the Fortran compiler (most of which was stored on the disk drive). Playing with the computer boards if you wanted to change the settings on the printer. Or sitting with 029s typing out new cards or filling out the sheets and handing them in to be key punched by the key punch class. Best computer I worked on till the Dec-10 and then of course the early PCs. But even the Dec-10 was not till 1975.
